Jan 6 Rioter Who Crushed Officer in Door Convicted of Seven Felonies and Could Face DECADES in Prison

One Connecticut man convicted of nine charges stemming from his role in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol building is potentially facing heavy-duty sentencing that may mean he’ll serve decades in prison.

“Patrick McCaughey III was involved in the violent assault of a police officer. This incident was caught on camera and obtained by NBC Connecticut Investigates earlier this year,” NBC Connecticut reports. “The video was presented as evidence during McCaughey’s bench trial. It shows him pinning Metropolitan Police Officer Daniel Hodges with a riot shield as a crowd pushes its way into the Capitol. McCaughey can be heard yelling at the officers to yield to the rioters.”

According to WUSA-TV, Judge Trevor McFadden “also convicted McCaughey of the most serious count of obstruction of an official proceeding, a felony charge that carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.”

The Department of Justice has announced that McCaughey was convicted of nine charges. These “include seven felony charges: three counts of aiding or abetting or assaulting, resisting, or impeding law enforcement officers, including one involving a dangerous weapon; one count of obstruction of an official proceeding; one count of interfering with a law enforcement officer during a civil disorder; one count of disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon. The two misdemeanor charges are: disorderly conduct in a Capitol building and committing an act of violence in the Capitol Building or grounds.”

Lindy Urso, McCaughey’s attorney, is weirdly optimistic, saying that they look forward to appealing the conviction.

McCaughey’s sentencing is set for January 26.

More than 910 supporters of former President Donald Trump (otherwise known as fools) have been charged in the January 6 insurrection, Insider reports. Imagine that — 910 people who somehow managed to get through most of their lives before that dangerous day, actually believed a vain man with the intelligence of a walnut cared about them. A man who is so vain, who continues to hide the fact that he’s balding, continues to put on appalling orange makeup.

A video reminder of just how bad this dude is:

Trump is in so much legal trouble right now that I’m sure these people are the last things on his mind. But even if he wasn’t in trouble, I’m sure he’d give these people lip service and then try to figure out another way to get more money out of these idiots.

That’s how this former grifter-in-chief operates.
